“There ain’t nothin’ out there can kill fuckin’ Ron Woodroof in 30 days.”
What’s it about?
Based on the true story of Ron Woodroof, racist and homophobic redneck turned activist for HIV positive patients, battling the government and hospitals, after contracting the disease himself during the AIDS crisis.
Who’s in it?
Matthew McConaughey, an unrecognisable Jared Leto and Jennifer Garner.
Why should I watch it?
+ Fantastic one-two performance from McConaughey and Leto
+ They didn’t only lose weight, they also lost themselves in their role
+ Both won the Oscars for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor
+ Interesting characters you can invest in
+ Sprinkled with funny exchanges between Leto and McConaughey
+ Heartbreaking scene with Leto
+ The story is incredible and inspiring
+ Ron Woodroof’s character arc from zero to hero
+ Addresses issues like homophobia and capitalism
Why shouldn’t I watch it?
– If you work for the FDA
– if you don’t like using condoms
Anything else?
It really makes you wonder if the government actually care for the lives of the patients or if they’re just into getting as much money out them as possible. Also, it’s funny how Ā contracting the disease might be the best thing that happened to him, making him a more accepting and a better person in general.

I liked this movie and it’s always amazing how McConaughey changes his weight. He looked scary sometimes.
