“I know you don’t always like it, but I love it. It’s my son’s face.”
What’s it about?
A kid starts school for the first time, which is scary enough, right? But this kid also has had more surgeries than Kim Kardashian because of a rare facial deformity.
Who’s in it?
Julia RobHurts, That kid from Room (Not The Room), Owen Wilson, Inigo Montoya and a bunch of kids I don’t know.
Why should I watch it?
+ As you can expect, this movie’s theme is about stigma, being scared of whats different and what you don’t understand
+ And how much we value looks as a society
+ It says a lot about bullying too
+ How what you say or what you do, even how small they may be, can have a massive impact on someone
+ Jacob Tremblay as Auggie was fucking incredible
+ Completely empathised with his character and even feel like a protective parent over him
+ With more daydreams than JD from Scrubs #EEEeeeeaaagle
+ He’s right though, Halloween is THE best holiday
+ Which adds another layers because it is the only time of the year where he can just be himself and treated normally,
+ That’s sad as fuck 😦
+ He’s actually really funny too, got some great one liners on his back pocket
+ Owen Wilson was great as the cool dad I want to achieve to be
+ Julia Roberts nailed the loving and understanding mother
+ Auggie landed the best parents, man.
+ Biggest surprise was that the movie wasn’t just about Auggie, it’s about how it affects people around him too
+ His sister who gets left behind, his friends, his mother’s dreams and even his sister’s friend
+ Having monthly precepts is a pretty good idea for a class
+ “When given the choice between being right or being kind, choose kind.”
+ Fucking bars 🔥🔥🔥
+ Who else fucking loves it when bullies get what’s coming to them?
+ Like, why you spending all your time focusing on someone who’s enjoying themselves and go out of your way to make them feel shitty?
+ Just focus on your life and enjoy your own life mate, dickhead.
+ Loads of Star Wars cameo
+ More crepe checks than a Chicken Connoisseur YouTube video
Why shouldn’t I watch it?
– That fight scene at the end was fucking whack
– It’s like the Dorne parts in Game of Thrones
– So, I guess the lesson is violence is the way to make friends with the cool kids?
– Owen Wilson just can’t hold on to his pets
– Felt that was emotional overkill tho
– Oh my fucking days, Julian’s parents were real pieces of work
This film will warm the fuck out of your heart. He just wants to be a normal kid, man. Definitely a good film to let your kids watch if you’re a parent. It also just makes you appreciate what you have, you know? There are people people out there having plastic surgeries to look better than normal when some just want to look normal. Just don’t judge people by what they look like, yeah? *Looks back down on phone and carries on swiping on Tinder*
