What’s it about?

A true story about an American who can’t isn’t a massive fan of the second amendment. Say whaaaaaaaaat?!

Who’s in it?

A Southern Andrew Garfield, Teresa Palmer, Hugo Weaving, Vince Vaughn and Sam Worthington.

Why should I watch it?

+ First of all, the fact that it’s a true story should sell you on it already
+ This guy went to war without a fucking weapon, that’s crazy badass
+ They actually cut off some stuff that happened because they thought it would look unrealistic in the film
+ Andrew Garfield seriously impressed me with his performance
+ Dude came across as extremely fucking likable while delivering some powerful lines
+ Shout out to Vaughn and Worthington as well, well done fellas
+ It’s pretty much divided in two parts
+ First half is the battle of beliefs and the army trying to break his conviction
+ It’s basically the army trying to convince him to commit murder
+ Second half focuses on the war against Japan
+ The scenes doesn’t hold back on brutality and the harsh realism of war
+ Expect gore and violence all the way through
+ Now I understand why Doss’ dad came back home an alcoholic who treats his wife and kids like Amanda Nunes did Ronda Rousey
+ Seriously though, how do you train for a year to get beaten in 48 fucking seconds?! Come on, Ronda
+ Where was I?
+ But I did like the brotherhood created by war, there’s nothing like bonding over killing human beings
+ Garfield was so natural when it comes to using ropes, it’s like he played Spider-Man or something
+ Appreciated the fact that it didn’t push religion onto you
+ It doesn’t ask you to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and saviour
+ He didn’t even push it onto the other guys in the army, guy is just a massive believer
+ To be fair, I pretty much say the same prayer as him when I’m at a buffet
+ *Southern accent* “Please Lord, help me get one more”
+ Am I right?

+ No.

Why shouldn’t I watch it?

– Been hearing that critics have called this film hypocritical by showing a pacifist with how intense the war scenes were, which is one of the dumbest things I’ve ever heard
– Holy shit, these Japanese soldiers are fucking insane man, they do not give a fuck
– They are fucking scaaaaaaaaaaary
– Wrap up at the end could’ve been better
– But the interview footage was nice, dude is the humblest guy ever

Anything else?

One of the best war films I have ever seen. Right up there with Saving Private Ryan (I know, I know. Can’t talk about a war film without bringing up that classic.) Bravery isn’t measured in how many lives you take, it’s how many you save. A must watch film for sure, regardless of what you think of Mel Gibson. He’s definitely better behind a camera than he is behind a telephone.
