Ex Machina (2015)

“If you’ve created a conscious machine, it’s not the history of man. That’s the history of gods.”

What’s it about?

Caleb wins a competition to visit the company’s CEO, Nathan, in his private island. Nathan introduces Caleb to Ava, a beautiful artificial intelligence, to test whether she has consciousness. Caleb, guided by his penis, grows closer to Ava while becoming more and more suspicious of Nathan.

Who’s in it?

Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleeson and Alicia Vikander.

Why should I watch it?

+ Well acted by all three actors
+ Compelling characters
+ Great dialogue and interaction
+ Awesome visual effects
+ Filled with tense moments
+ Includes psychological aspects
+ Makes you guess who to trust
+ Explores humanity (most of the bad stuff specifically)
+ Oscar Isaac’s dance moves

Why shouldn’t I watch it?

– Some might find it slow
– If you’re looking for an action film
– If you’ve seen it before it was cool

Anything else?

The film makes you think way after it’s done, what we are capable of when the chips are down. It also shines a light on our relationship with technology and how easy it is to know a person just by what they search online. *Deletes browser history*
